With only a few laps left in Sunday’s race in Dover the #6 car of Trevor Bayne came down pit road for tires. That’s when trouble struck for front tire changer Kale Uphoff. Apparently, Uphoff jumped off the wall and the injury happened during the stop. We have not spoken to RFR or Uphoff, but from what we are hearing he has a torn or partially torn calf muscle. This is not totally uncommon for a pit crew member in the fact that they jump off a wall for a living and their feet, ankles, calf, and Achilles take a beating. As far as replacements go….our guess would be RFR back up changer Bryan Jacobsen. Jacobsen is a long time changer and will do fine in this roll. He’s spent time at Redbull Racing, Stewart Haas Racing, and now Roush Fenway.

As soon as we know more we will update this post. Good luck to Kale in his recovery and we wish him the best.
